Mission Statement |
What is 180/180? 180/180 is a county-wide effort in Santa Cruz, CA to help 180 homeless men and women turn their lives around. We've adopted the national 100,000 Homes Campaign methodology and have a goal to house 180 of our most vulnerable, chronically homeless individuals by July 2014. We will move them into permanent housing with the support services they need to stay housed, thereby changing lives and improving our community. |
Volunteer Duties |
Housing Navigators: Help connect 180/180 participants with housing and services. This involves searching for available Section 8 rental units, preparing for landlord interviews, and sorting out required documentation. Each circumstance will be different so bring your problem-solving skills, compassion and persistence to this critical process of connecting someone who is chronically homeless with supportive housing. You’ll work with professional Case Managers and other Housing Navigators. Move-In Crew: Help people move into their new homes. Identify individual needs and help collect and deliver smaller household items and furniture. *special crew needed for heavy items. Survey Tag Team: Join a group of trained volunteers to administer the 180/180 Vulnerability Index questionnaire. This may include facility-specific surveying during predetermined drop-in hours or field-based surveying someone who is unable to travel. |
